Rock climbing at johnny's birthday

Montana cont.

Sue celebrated her 59th birthday at the Leaf and Bean with a wicked head cold and some foul smelling grandchildren.

E.B. learned the joys of climbing rocks up at Hyalite.

Nata loved hanging with Auntie Debbie. They have matching masses of curly blond hair.

Truck fire in South Dakota. Julie was hoping the same would happen to the Mazda at points on the drive back. Can intense whining cause a car to burst into flames?

More Montana from Sue

Nata really likes a Camelback,

The boys built an intricate world of canals, volcanoes, and tsunamis in the Gibbon River. It was really the only civilized way to pass the afternoon in the blistering sun of Yellowstone.

Montana #4

We did see Old Faithful. When it blew there were several hundred tourists like us waiting in silence. Then Elliot burst out, "Dad, did you see that?!" It was totally awesome.

We also went up to Hyalite Reservoir and then took a hike up to Grotto Falls and spent some time over at Auntie Debbie's house. The kids were totally fired up about her house full of cool music instruments and games. You've never lived until you hear a synthesizer programmed to sound like gunfire turned up to 11 played by a 5 year old boy.

Montana #3

Nata and grandpa are not having coffee and a treat at Chadz in Livingston. It was closed. We were a little sad about it.

We played soccer at gas stations across the west. There was horse poop just past the coffee kiosk.

Elliot is doing his best elk impersonation. Compare and contrast to the real elk in the background.

Living out of your car for two weeks turns people into real modern Okies.

If anyone asks if you want to spend a few nights in Bear Canyon Campground outside Bozeman, don't be fooled by the glorious views, many big freight trains travel within inches of your tent every night. Bring lots of booze or earplugs if you want to sleep through the night.

More Montana

Lots of hiking and camping and fam time. We hiked to Pine Creek Falls one day. Spent three days and two nights at Norris Campground in Yellowstone. Swimming in the Gibbon River was totally awesome. Saw many thermal features, geysers, etc.

That is a picture of Elliot crunching down on a grasshopper he caught while we were watching a herd of bison. Apparently, it was a little dusty/sandy tasting.

Montana

Jules and the kids just got in tonight. Massive excitement in Montana over the last two weeks. Much more to come.

Elliot ate a grasshopper and lost his second front tooth. Natalie decided to call Dad "Stinker, tooter, pooper" for the entire trip. So yeah, it was pretty fun.
