Puerto Rico #8

We finished up by touring old San Juan and the El Morro Fort.

Checking out an old fort with an old Marine was pretty neat. Black powder is loud,

Puerto Rico #7

We spent our last night in San Juan. Dad picked the Hotel Iberia mostly because it was cheap. It turned out to be the greatest hotel in history (in the eyes of the kids). There were many awesome things including: a suit of armor, a kitty, several birds, and a rooftop veranda which was excellent as a breakfast spot and a spot to wrestle Owie.

Puerto Rico #6

On the ferry back to Fajardo, Mom worked with the kids on their new favorite song, "The Titanic." They both got three full verses memorized on the trip.

We drove up to El Yunque National Forest and hiked in to El Mina falls. Elliot was the only one of us who was tough/foolish enough to swim in the pool at the base of the falls.

Puerto Rico #5

After our troubles getting to and from Green Beach, we decided not to try and drive to Navio from Media Luna. This was a good decision. A couple people in really big Jeeps were able to drive there. We also found a Jeep piece floating in one of the bigger puddles. We went on foot instead. The waves were super awesome for body surfing.

Puerto Rico #4

After green beach, we went to Media Luna. The snorkeling couldn't measure up but Jules and EB did find a sweet horseshoe crab shell on their hike. Nata loved the super calm bathtub like waters.

Puerto Rico #3

We also ventured to the western end of the island for snorkeling. Owie said it was better than Hawaii which is pretty high praise. The road to Green Beach made the trip to Playa la Plata look like a walk in the park. Dad hit a massive water filled hole with enough speed to pop out the spare tire. Thank goodness we had Owie along to reassemble the car the next day.

Puerto Rico #2

A couple  more shots from sunset at Sun Bay plus Playa la Plata. Bonnie, Larry and Elliot even ventured over to Playa Platita to check out the coral sculptures.
